A first for the Azerbaijani capital market: Unicapital becomes the underwriter of EBRD’s floating-rate bonds

Renowned for its innovative initiatives in the Azerbaijani capital market, Unicapital Investment Company OJSC is once again taking the lead in a landmark project. The company has assumed the role of underwriter for the bond issuance of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The key innovation of this issuance lies in the calculation of coupon payments based on a floating-rate mechanism. This approach offers investors returns aligned with market conditions and ensures greater flexibility for portfolios to adapt to market fluctuations.

For the first time in the Azerbaijani capital market, floating-rate bonds will be issued with a 12-month maturity and a total volume of 50 million AZN. Backed by the issuer’s AAA international credit rating (Fitch), this instrument stands out as a particularly secure investment option.

It is worth noting that Azerbaijan’s cooperation with the EBRD began in 1992. Since then, the Bank has supported nearly 200 projects in the country, investing over €4 billion.

Unicapital is proud to be part of this significant project, which marks a first in terms of diversifying financial instruments. Leveraging professional underwriting services based on international best practices, the company will continue to create flexible and attractive investment opportunities for corporate and institutional investors in the future.
